Important Information Regarding Open Burn Permits
Please be advised that all outdoor burning requires an Outdoor Burning Permit application to be completed and filed with Lake Travis Fire Rescue/Travis County Emergency Services District No. 6 prior to burning within our District boundaries. Any burning without an approved permit may be subject to a fine.
Fires must be kept at least 300 feet downwind from any structure that contains sensitive receptors (such as barns, greenhouses, residences, nurseries.) In order to receive approval for a Burn Permit written permission must be obtained from whoever owns or rents property and either resides or conducts business there.
All Burn Permit applications submitted to this office must have verification of any written permissions granted by adjacent property owners/renters as follows:
A. Name, address, and contact information such as phone number or email address
B. Plat map of area identifying neighboring properties. Plat maps can be obtained at the following webpage link: http://www.traviscad.org/search1.php
An application can be obtained at this link: APPLICATION or at our office located at 15516 General Williamson Drive (at the corner of 620 and General Williamson Drive). The application and non-refundable $20 permit application fee must be submitted during the Administrative business hours of 8:00 am – 12:00pm and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. All applications must be approved by the Fire Prevention Division and will be issued a permit number upon approval. Once submitted, please allow up to four days for the processing of the application. Any weekend burning must receive an approved permit number before the end of the business day Friday, no later than 5:00 p.m.
Permits are invalid in the City of Lakeway, the Village of the Hills. Burning is permitted within the City of Bee Cave provided that a permit is issued by this office.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Administrative Offices at (512) 266-2533 ext. 28
