Excellent ISO Rating Means Superior Fire Protection, Reduced Insurance Rates
Rated 2/3/8B
We are a “split rated” fire department. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the best and 10 considered the worst, Lake Travis Fire Rescue was recognized as an ISO Class 2 department in the Cities of Bee Cave, The Hills and Lakeway. Most unincorporated Travis County areas are an ISO class 3, these areas include River Place, Steiner Ranch, Comanche Trail, Marshall Ford, Mansfield Dam, Hudson Bend, Apache Shores, and Cardinal Hills. Class 8b is a Public Protection Classification (PPC) for communities that provide superior fire-protection services and fire alarm facilities but lack the water supply required for a PPC of Class 8 or better. The 8b rating would incorporate areas of Hamilton Pool.
The ISO (Insurance Services Office) is an independent organization employed by the insurance industry to evaluate a community's ability to control fire. Very few departments statewide are better than a class 3.
What does this mean to a property owner? It could translate to lower insurance premiums. For additional information, contact your insurance company or visit the Texas Department of Insurance FAQ website
